Father Allegedly Beats 19-Year-Old Son To Death In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 19-year-old boy, reportedly beaten to death by his father in the Alagbado area of Lagos.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the teenager’s death and stated that the incident was reported to the Alagbado Police Division on Tuesday.
According to Hundeyin, “At about 12 p.m. on July 5, one Olumide inflicted a deep cut on his son, Adeyemi, using a shovel, under the guise of moderate correction for an undisclosed offense.”
The young man sustained severe injuries from the attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, as the injury worsened, he was transferred to the General Hospital Ikeja, where he succumbed to a tetanus infection, as confirmed by the attending doctor.
Detectives from the division visited the scene of the incident. The father of the victim is currently at large, and the case remains under investigation.
