ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA: Otu Oka-Iwu, Abuja Branch Endorses Osigwe, Edokwe And Ibe For NBA National Office
We are pleased to present this endorsement statement on behalf of Otu Oka-iwu (Igbo Lawyers) Association, affirming our commitment to the principles that have always guided our association.
At the heart of our forum lies the ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA mantra, a principle embraced by nearly all Igbo associations within and outside Nigeria.
The significance of this mantra cannot be overemphasized. It embodies the spirit of togetherness and solidarity, ideals that should never be compromised for political expediency. As we continue to build and strengthen our community, it is crucial to remember and uphold these values. Even in the face of electoral processes, where many elements may seem unnatural, our brotherhood and unity must remain steadfast, particularly when dedicated members are involved.
In light of this, it is only natural that we support our esteemed members who are contesting for various positions within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, is running for the position of President; Lolo Bridget Edokwe is vying for the position of Publicity Secretary; and Mazi Eric Ibe is seeking the position of General Council. Their candidacies are a testament to their capabilities and the numerous endorsements they have received reflect their competence and capacity to excel in these roles.
The principle of ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA is meaningless if we do not actively embrace and practice it. We do not have any other members contesting for these positions, and thus, it is imperative that we support our own. After careful analysis and extensive consultations with our members and stakeholders, the Executive Members of Otu Oka-iwu have decided to formally endorse Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, for the position of President; Lolo Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe for the position of Publicity Secretary; and Mazi Eric Ibe for the position of General Council of the NBA.
By supporting these candidates, we are not only endorsing their individual aspirations but also reinforcing the unity and strength of our association. We believe that their leadership will contribute significantly to a proactive and progressive Bar, one that we can all be proud of both now and in the future.
Thank you for your attention and support.
Sincerely,
Chidi Udekwe
President,
Otu Oka-iwu (Igbo Lawyers Forum),
