Judicial Workers in Anambra State Commence Indefinite Strike

Judicial workers in Anambra State, under the aegis of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), have embarked on an indefinite strike. The action follows the government’s failure to implement the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUS).

In a circular issued by Nwezi Ugochukwu, the Assistant Secretary of JUSUN in Anambra State, the strike was announced after the expiration of an ultimatum given to the government. The circular stated, “Based on the failure of the Anambra State Government to comply with the agreement reached in 2011 and 2015 respectively with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Anambra State Branch, for the full implementation of the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUS), a Peculiar Allowance for Judiciary Staff in the State and upon the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum issued to the State Government by the Union, this notice is hereby issued.”

The notice further directed all staff of the Anambra State Judiciary to withdraw their services effective Monday, July 15, 2024, pending further directives from the Union in the state.

NOTICE OF INDEFINITE STRIKE ACTION

Based on the failure of the Anambra State Government to comply with the agreement reached in 2011 and 2015 respectively with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Anambra State Branch for the full implementation of the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUS), a Peculiar Allowance for Judiciary Staff in the State and upon the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum issued to the State Government by the Union, this notice is hereby issued.
All staff of the Anambra State Judiciary are directed to withdraw their services, effective from Monday the 15™ day of July 2024, pending further directives by the Union in the state.
