Traditional Council Honours Taraba Chief Judge

The Wukari Traditional Council held a civic reception on Saturday night to honor Hon. Justice Joel Agya, the Chief Judge of Taraba State.
During the event, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali, the Aku Uka of Wukari, presented a plaque of honor to Justice Agya. Dr. Ali commended the Chief Judge for his unwavering integrity, uprightness, and impartiality in the administration of justice. He highlighted that Justice Agya’s actions have consistently promoted the rule of law and bolstered the independence of the judiciary.
“Hon. Justice Agya is a worthy son of Wukari who has distinguished himself in his chosen career. His work, both as a lawyer and later as a judge, has been marked by integrity, impartiality, and excellence. He has supported many young lawyers throughout his journey to the top of the Taraba judiciary,” Dr. Ali stated.
Barr. Yakubu Maikasuwa SAN, the Taraba Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, praised the Wukari Traditional Council for recognizing Justice Agya, describing the honor as well-deserved.
In his goodwill message, Chief Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura, the Gara of Donga, lauded the Chief Judge as an upright individual who has significantly contributed to the judiciary. He prayed for Justice Agya’s elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria, so his contributions could benefit all Nigerians.
Barr. Sopiya Gboshi, the Chief of Takum, shared that he was personally inspired by Justice Agya as a young lawyer. He advised the youth to emulate Justice Agya’s virtues of integrity, impartiality, fairness, and boldness in justice administration for a better society.
In his vote of thanks, Justice Agya revealed that his journey in the Taraba state judiciary has been divinely guided from the time of his appointment as a High Court judge. He shared that he often reflects on how God would judge a case before passing his own judgments, which serves as his guiding principle.
Expressing gratitude to the traditional council for the honor, Justice Agya pledged to continue his efforts for the betterment of society.
The event, held at the palace of the Aku Uka of Wukari, was attended by top judicial officials, traditional rulers, and prominent individuals from the area.
