Boko Haram Insurgents Abduct High Court Judge, Others In Borno
The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of High Court Judge Justice Haruna Mshelia, along with his wife and orderly, by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Gujba village, Yobe State.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Kenneth Nahum Daso, reported that two vehicles carrying passengers were also seized along the Damaturu – Kamuya – Buratai Road.
ASP Daso stated that a joint security investigation team has been established to locate and rescue the abductees. He urged the public to provide any information that could assist in the investigation and rescue operations.
According to reports, Justice Mshelia, his wife, driver, and orderly were abducted by the insurgents on Monday, June 24, 2024, while traveling along the Damaturu-Biu road.
The judge was traveling with his driver, security escort, and wife when armed men emerged from the bushes near a curve between Burutai and Buni-Gari, firing their weapons and barricading the road.
In an attempt to escape, Justice Mshelia’s vehicle was intercepted by another group of insurgents, and the occupants were taken hostage and later transported to the Sambisa Forest.
The police command continues to work tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the abductees and urges the public to remain vigilant and cooperative.
