Governor Abiodun Advocates For Establishment Of Court Of Appeal Division In Ogun State
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has called for the establishment of a division of the Court of Appeal in the state to address the increasing workload on the Ibadan division.
The Governor made this appeal during a meeting with the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday.
Highlighting some of his administration’s achievements in the judiciary sector, Governor Abiodun mentioned the establishment of a special court to tackle cultism, the operationalization of the customary court of appeal, and the introduction of the multi-door court.
He reiterated his government’s dedication to ensuring the welfare of justices to facilitate the prompt dispensation of justice.
In response, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem expressed concerns over the backlog of appeals and the shortage of justices in the Ibadan division of the Court of Appeal. She stated that their visit aimed to alleviate the workload on the Ibadan division by addressing pending appeals.
Accompanying Justice Dongban-Mensem were the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, and the Presiding Judges of the Ibadan, Ilorin, Abuja, and Yola Courts of Appeal, among others.
