EFCC Reportedly Detains Six Senior NSCDC Officers Over Alleged N6bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly apprehended six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on allegations of involvement in a N6 billion fraud scheme.

Currently undergoing interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, these senior NSCDC officers were transferred to the anti-corruption agency’s custody on the directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi.

While specific details of the investigation remain undisclosed, reliable sources familiar with the matter, who preferred anonymity, disclosed that the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had previously communicated with the NSCDC CG, requesting the release of the officers for questioning.

According to insider information, “Six senior NSCDC officers are presently in our custody. They are facing intense interrogation by our investigators concerning alleged fraudulent activities amounting to over N6 billion.”

Corroborating this, another source clarified, “The EFCC’s focus is not on the NSCDC CG, and he is not under investigation. Rather, we have detained six senior NSCDC officers for questioning regarding an alleged N6 billion fraud.”

“The EFCC Chairman had earlier written to the NSCDC CG, requesting the officers’ provision, and the CG complied. Presently, they are in our custody, undergoing thorough interrogation,” the source added.

Despite attempts to reach the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for comment, calls and messages went unanswered as of Monday.

On the other hand, Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC spokesperson, stated that he was not aware of the situation when contacted for clarification.
