Activist Deji Adeyanju Advocates For Justice In Abuja School Bullying Case

Prominent activist Deji Adeyanju has stepped in to address the case of Miss Namtira Bwala, a student who fell victim to bullying at the Lead British International School in Abuja.

In a letter directed to the School Head and copied to the Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Police Force, FCT Police Command, Abuja, Deji Adeyanju and Partners Law Firm demanded an urgent investigation and strict sanctions against the alleged perpetrators, Miss Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students involved.

The letter, signed by Barrister Marvin Omorogbe, emphasized that failure to impose sanctions within 48 hours would prompt legal action against the school.

Addressing the recurring issue of bullying within the institution, the letter highlighted the distressing incident captured in a viral video posted on April 22, 2024. It depicted Namtira Bwala being physically assaulted and humiliated by a group of student bullies allegedly led by Maryam Hassan and Faliya.

The letter condemned the school’s response, describing it as inadequate and failing to acknowledge the severity of the situation. It criticized the school’s statement, which downplayed the incident as a mere “incident between minors,” stressing that such negligence has fostered an environment where bullying thrives unchecked.

Demanding immediate action, the letter urged for a thorough investigation and the imposition of the strictest possible sanctions against the identified bullies. It warned of legal consequences should the school fail to act within the stipulated timeframe.

Namtira Bwala’s legal representatives emphasized her determination to seek justice and hold accountable those responsible for her ordeal.
