AGF Lateef Fagbemi Denies Twitter Presence, Warns Public Against Impersonation
Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has refuted claims of having a Twitter account, emphasizing that he is not active on the platform.
In a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Kamarudeen Ogundele, the AGF cautioned the public against engaging with any accounts impersonating him.
“The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, has no Twitter handle,” the statement clarified.
“He has channels of communication with Nigerians, but Twitter is not one of them, at least for now.
“The public should take notice of this and be well guided for future interactions.”
Fagbemi’s statement comes in response to the buzz surrounding an account purportedly opened in his name on Friday.
The operator of the account announced, “I am happy to finally join X/Twitter. I believe this is an essential platform for engagement, feedback, and understanding the thoughts, ideas, and values of our people.
“This will complement our other efforts to ensure the Nigerian people are kept in touch with our service to them.”
At the time of this report, the fraudulent account established on Friday had garnered over 5,000 followers.
