EFCC Launches Manhunt For Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, wanted on charges related to economic and financial crimes. The announcement was made through a notice posted on the EFCC’s verified Facebook page.

The notice, issued on Thursday, stated that Yahaya Adoza Bello, the ex-Governor of Kogi State, is wanted in connection with an alleged case of Money Laundering amounting to N80,246,470,089.88. Bello, a 48-year-old Ebira man from Okenne Local Government in Kogi State, is reported to have his last known address at 9 Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

The EFCC urged individuals with any pertinent information regarding Bello’s whereabouts to contact any of the commission’s offices across the country.

Earlier, the anti-graft agency had announced its intention to arraign the former governor before a Federal High Court in Abuja. This decision followed the granting of a warrant of arrest by the Federal High Court to facilitate Bello’s apprehension.

During the court proceedings, the EFCC’s legal team, headed by Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, affirmed their commitment to executing the arrest warrant for the former governor. They stated that EFCC operatives were prepared to enforce the warrant, even if it necessitated the involvement of military personnel, emphasizing that immunity only extends to individuals and not to physical locations.
