Tailor Remanded For Stealing Pot Of Soup In Ondo
A tailor, Adua Fatogun, has been remanded in a correctional center by an Ondo State Magistrate Court for the alleged theft of a pot of soup.
Fatogun was brought before the court on charges of burglary and theft, stemming from an incident on October 12, 2023, around 9 a.m. at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi in Ondo town.
The 19-year-old suspect is accused of not only stealing the pot of soup but also gas cylinders and other items valued at N311,100, belonging to three individuals: Felix Ogunbolade, Adeoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.
Bernard Olagbayi, the Police prosecutor, stated that the offences contravene Section 383 and are punishable under Section 412(1), 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.
Fatogun pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge when it was read to him.
Olagbayi requested an adjournment to prepare prosecution witnesses for the trial, as the defendant was not legally represented.
Magistrate O. A. Omofolarin ruled to remand the defendant until February 19, 2024, for trial.
