Law Firm Prepares Lawyers for TechLaw Adoption

The Liberty Semper Fidelis law firm, operating in Lagos and Abuja with correspondent offices globally, is gearing up to initiate a three-day workshop and retreat for its legal practitioners and staff. This strategic move aims to equip them for pioneering TechLaw adoption within the country’s legal sphere.
Organized by the Centre for Legal Studies, the firm’s training arm, the workshop themed “Transforming the Future of Law Practice” will take place at the Arcade Sinclair Suites in Abuja’s Central Business District. The event will feature resource persons from esteemed law firms, universities, and legal institutions in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, the Principal Partner, highlighted the workshop’s objective: to explore how Nigeria’s legal landscape can integrate advanced technology into justice delivery, akin to the financial sector’s use of FinTech for enhanced service provision.
Afikuyomi emphasized, “The workshop aims to acquaint us with the Nigerian technology law terrain and underscore the significance of innovations like Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law and justice.” He added that the event will delve into digital law, technology applications in law, and leveraging new technology to enhance client services and foster growth in the justice sector, aligning with the firm’s commitment to innovation encapsulated in its slogan: “Faithful to the Brief.”
Distinguished speakers slated for the workshop include Dr. Gbenga Oduntan, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda, SAN, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, Dr. Titi Hameed, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, Dr. Emmanuel Olowononi, Mr. Suraju Olanrewaju, and Jude Igbanoi. Topics of discussion will span various facets of law practice, including cybersecurity, social media positioning, law firm management, ethics, anti-corruption law, marketing, communication strategy, and effective collaboration.
Afikuyomi reiterated the firm’s commitment to leveraging insights from the workshop for the benefit of the justice sector. The firm intends to disseminate the workshop’s findings to relevant stakeholders such as the Nigerian Bar Association, Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and judicial leadership.
