NEM Insurance Welcomes Mrs Ifunanya Iwuagwu As New Company Secretary And Legal Adviser
NEM Insurance Plc has officially announced the appointment of Mrs Ifunanya Iwuagwu as its new Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, effective from January 30. The notification, issued by Managing Director Mr Andrew Ikekhua and submitted to the Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX) last week, highlighted that the appointment follows the resignation of Mrs Olajumoke Philip-Akede from the position on December 29, 2023.
The company expressed confidence in Mrs Ifunanya Iwuagwu’s wealth of knowledge and experience, acknowledging her capabilities to contribute significantly to NEM Insurance’s strategic objectives. The appointment received approval from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Ifunanya Iwuagwu, a seasoned legal practitioner, graduated from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in 2002, bringing over 15 years of relevant experience to her new role. She commenced her professional journey as a legal officer at Messrs Taiwo Kupolati & Co., where she actively participated in litigation across various courts and served as an assistant Editor with the Federation Weekly Law Reports.
In 2009, Iwuagwu joined the firm of Messrs Koya & Kuti Solicitors, broadening her expertise in legal drafting, negotiation, corporate, and commercial law practice. Subsequently, she became a Legal Executive at Red Star Express Plc in 2014, where she held various roles, including Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Red Star Foundation Ltd/Gte.
In her recent role, Iwuagwu emerged as a member of the Group Executive Committee and served as Head, Legal/Legal Adviser to Red Star Express Plc. Her professional journey also includes attending several trainings and courses in dispute resolution, mediation, and corporate governance. She is a member of the Institute of Credit Administrators, a chartered secretary, administrator, and certified data analyst.
NEM Insurance Plc anticipates that Mrs Ifunanya Iwuagwu will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s legal and governance strategies, building on her diverse background and extensive experience in the legal profession.
