Anambra First Lady Launches Manhunt For Fleeing Lawyer Accused Of Shocking Child Abuse

Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, has strongly condemned the reprehensible child abuse inflicted on a young maid by her guardian in G.R.A, Onitsha. Responding to a distressing viral video showcasing a nine-year-old girl covered in disturbing iron-stamp burns, allegedly caused by her guardian, Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, Mrs. Soludo has initiated a determined manhunt for the accused, who is currently evading authorities.
The distressing incident unfolded at Mrs. Okafor’s residence in Akpaka, 33 G.R.A, Onitsha, where she resided with the victim. The abuse reportedly occurred when the young maid, while bathing Mrs. Okafor’s son accidentally touched the child’s genitals. This seemingly trivial incident triggered Mrs. Okafor’s rage, leading her to use various objects, including a charged laundry iron, to inflict severe harm on the defenseless child. Witnesses reported that Mrs. Okafor, identified as a legal practitioner and a pastor in a local church, arrogantly boasted of her immunity, proclaiming that her legal status would shield her from repercussions.
An anonymous source disclosed, “It was then that Mrs. Okafor, said to be a legal practitioner and a pastor in a local church, used everything within her reach, including a charged laundry iron, to feast on the maid. She was shouting to onlookers while manhandling the child that she is a lawyer; nothing will happen to her.”
Expressing deep sorrow over the girl’s current condition, Mrs. Soludo promptly directed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to take custody of the child. Immediate medical treatment and tests to assess potential internal injuries were ordered. Mrs. Soludo vehemently condemned the guardian’s actions, labeling them as barbaric and heinous, pledging to ensure justice is served. She expressed deep sadness about the current condition of the girl and called on anyone who had information on how to get hold of the fleeing guardian to open up as a matter of conscience and right reasons.
The governor’s wife, while stating that the state remains a red zone for abusers and those who take every opportunity to pounce on the rights of women and children, noted that the government would not leave no stone unturned in dealing with anyone who had no respect for human dignity. Mrs Soludo further re-echoed her appeal for parents to take serious consideration of their child’s age before giving them out as maids or servants and to also know the temperaments of their child’s guardian.
