BREAKING: Supreme Court Reserves Judgment In Appeal By Atiku, PDP
The Supreme Court has delayed the decision in Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ‘s appeal against the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) ‘s September 6 ruling that confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the last presidential election.
After lawyers to parties adopted their briefs and made final submissions, a seven-man panel of the court headed by Justice John Okoro made the announcement.
The court also took arguments from lawyers to parties on the motion filed by the appellants to supply fresh evidence.
Appellants’ lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN), urged the court to grant the motion and allow their appeal, grant the prayers sought and disqualify Tinubu.
The respondent’s counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN (for the Independent National Electoral Commission), Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN (for Tinubu), and Chief Akin Olujinmi, SAN (for the All Progressives Congress), requested the court to dismiss the application and appeal for lack of merit.
After momentarily rising, the court reconvened to hear the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) appeal.
