A Nigerian lawyer, Justice Olugbenga Soyele, 62 has become the first African to become a judge in Canada after he was inaugurated in Edmonton, Alberta.
Justice Soleye an alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife had before now been honoured as a King’s Counsel and won.
Several people who worked with him in Nigeria traveled to Edmonton, Alberta for the swearing in ceremony in the Edmonton Court House.
