CJN Tasks Heads Of Court On Open Administration

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has tasked Judges and Justices that head various courts to be open to public scrutiny as public officers.

Ariwoola, gave the advice at the swearing-in of Stanley Adekunle Lawal as substantive President of the Customary Court of Appeal.

Justice Ariwoola at the ceremony in Abuja, stressed the need for public officers to be aware that they are open to criticism.

The CJN said by the position as President of the Customary Court of Appeal he is expected to be open to public criticism and scrutiny and must align his conscience and be guided by the constitution.

According to the CJN any person who takes up public office should be aware that he or she must be subjected to public scrutiny and criticism.

Ariwoola, further tasked the appeal court boss on justice, fairness and truth.

“As a leader, the bulk of work stops on your desk and you must be dispassionate in your decisions and actions”.

The CJN also called on the newly sworn in Customary Court of Appeal boss to be passionate and kind to his subordinates.
