Rivers ADC Suspends Governorship Candidate, Tonte Ibraye And Running Mate, Tonto Dikeh

 

The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reportedly suspended its governorship candidate, Tonte Ibraye and his running mate, Tonto Dikeh.

The duo, according to the party, were accused of insubordination and anti-party activities.

This came two days to the Saturday March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The party also suspended the former State Deputy Chairman of the party, Ode Lawrence-Gbagire; the former State Secretary, Eke Iheanyi-Eugene; former Youth leader, Deinma Emmanuel; the former Publicity Secretary, Luckyman Egila and former Legal Adviser, Hamza Victor-Chukere.

In a statement jointly signed by the the State Chairman of the ADC, Leader Sampson, the Deputy Chairman, Alali Ikpoemugh and the state Secretary, Gabriel Patterson-Unyeowaji, it was stated that the party also suspended the former State Deputy Chairman of the party, Ode Lawrence-Gbagire; the former State Secretary, Eke Iheanyi-Eugene; former Youth leader, Deinma Emmanuel; the former Publicity Secretary, Luckyman Egila and former Legal Adviser, Hamza Victor-Chukere.

Report has it that the suspension was recommended by the state disciplinary committee of the party and ratification of the state working committee.

According to the statement, the party’s governorship candidate, Ibraye, since his emergence, “has created more division in the party, especially with his endorsement of a presidential candidate alongside his running mate and their co-travellers.”

However, the Director General of the Campaign Organization of the ADC candidate, Eke Eugene, said: “Sampson lacks the power to suspend them following his earlier suspension from the party.”
