Kanu: Appeal Court To Rule On Release Monday
The Court of Appeal in Abuja will on Monday, next week, hear a Motion for Stay of Execution of its judgment which had on the 13th of this month, ordered the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
This followed the filing of a notice of appeal and motion for stay of execution on Mazi Kanu’s legal team yesterday, by the Federal Government.
Reacting on the development, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the detained IPOB leader said they were not in any way perturbed because the Federal Government has the right to lodge an appeal.
However, Ejiofor dismissed the appeal as incompetent, since the government had decided to disobey an order of the appellate court, which quashed all the 15-count charges preferred against Kanu by the Federal Government.
Mr. Ejiofor stated that his client has been convinced that his landmark victory resonates the age-long testament that the Court is the last hope of the common man.
