[JUST IN] Y. C. Maikyau Is Sworn In As 31st NBA President

Amid pomp and pageantry, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN has been sworn in officially as the 31st President of the largest Bar in Africa, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Maikyau was at the occasion with his family, who were all introduced individually by one of the compères of the event Chief Paul Harris Ogbole, SAN.
The occasion was graced by the Executive Governor of Kebbi State (Maikyau’s home state) Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and his wife; the Chief Judge of Sokoto State; Chief Judge of Plateau State; State Attorneys General; past President of the NBA Austin Alegeh; Mama Hairat Balogun; Past NBA general secretaries, Dele Adesina, SAN; Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN and Emeka Obegolu, SAN; and numerous other senior and junior lawyers.
The outgoing President of the NBA, Olumide Akpata administered the Oath of Office in accordance with the NBA Constitution, on the incoming President and presented the hand over notes, which he hoped will be of immense help to the latter as he pilots the affairs of the association.
While decorating the incoming President with the insignia of office, he quipped “When you have a man as tall as Yakubu Maikyau, this becomes a bit of a problem, but we thank God I’m equally endowed,” as the crowd roared with laughter.
On that note a motion for the dissolution of the outgoing NBA EXCO was moved by former President, Austin Alegeh, SAN and seconded by Abuja female lawyer, MOHAMMED Adama, Esq.
After that, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN administered the Oath of Office on the members of his Executive Committee.
