Y. C Maikyau SAN Speaks On Theme, “Nation Building: Our Collective Responsibility” At NBA, Ikorodu Law Week

At the ongoing Annual Law Week of the Ikorodu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) themed ‘Nation Building: Our Collective Responsibility’, Y.C. Maikyau, SAN who participated as a discussant at the morning session of 17th May, 2022 observed that, crucial to the resurgence of the prime of place that legal practitioners enjoy in our society is the reorientation of members of the profession with respect to their primary calling as Ministers in the Temple of Justice.
He said as much as earning a fee is important to lawyers, it cannot be promoted over and above the course of Justice.
He advocated for lawyers to continue to represent the profession as good ambassadors even beyond the walls of court rooms up to their various endeavors, including politics and governance in order to reclaim our perception in the eyes of the larger society.
He also thanked the Ikorodu Branch of the NBA for inviting him to the program and the privilege of being made a discussant.
As Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the NBA, he used the opportunity to urge members of the Branch to key into the present NHIS scheme of the NBA whilst seizing the opportunity to present NHIS access cards to some of the beneficiaries from the branch.
The learned silk was warmly received by the Executive Committee of the branch and members who enthusiastically took pictures and interacted with him on many issues.
