NBA Maiduguri/Biu Law Week 2022: Y. C Maikyau SAN Urges Members To Subscribe To The NBA NHIS Scheme
Y. C. Maikyau, SAN was a special guest and Session Chairman at the just concluded NBA Maiduguri Law Week 2022.
The event which was attended by eminent personalities from all walks of life, had as its theme: “Technology as a tool for access to justice during the corona virus pandemic and beyond”
Delivering his goodwill message, Y. C. Maikyau, SAN stated that Maiduguri is one State that we look up to, and indicated that Borno State has actually taken the lead, and commended the State for putting up such an edifice where the event was held, the ICC Musa Usman Secretariat Maiduguri.
Mr. Maikyau, SAN also lauded the virtues of the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah OFR and in doing so, stated that his Lordship is someone other judges look up to.
On the topic of the Law Week, Mr Maikyau, SAN said: “We do not have an option but to embrace technology, its either you embrace technology or you embrace technology…there is no profession like the law profession.
“Taking the lead in this country by lawyers is not something we can joke about, it is something we must do, we as lawyers have the responsibility to take the lead; the responsibility of recovering, reforming and repositioning of the country rest on our shoulders as lawyers…we have to equip ourselves with the knowledge of technology or we cannot compete with our competitors globally, so the only way we can compete in that space is to develop our capacity.
äFor you to be competitive you have to be well and that is why as the Chairman of the NBA Welfare Committee, the President of the NBA has given us a task to bring to the knowledge of lawyers, the NBA NHIS Scheme and its benefits. “
The learned Silk went on to urge lawyers to subscribe for the scheme.
