Y. C. Maikyau, SAN Speaks On The Role Of Lawyers In Repositioning The Nigerian State At Recently Held NBA Port Harcourt Branch Meeting

Foremost Nigerian lawyer, Y. C. Maikyau, SAN was a guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Port Harcourt branch which held on the 27th of January, 2022.

At the meeting, the Learned Silk delivered a paper titled: “RECOVERING, REFORMING AND REPOSITIONING THE NIGERIAN STATE- THE ROLE OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION- THE IMPERATIVE OF DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LAWYERS.”

On the need to save the country and reposition it for greatness among the comity of nations, the Learned Silk harped on the responsibility of the lawyer in this regard. An excerpt from his said paper reads, “There is an urgent need to recover, reform and reposition the Nigerian State from its failed or failing State status and I submit most respectfully that, the responsibility of doing so rests more on the shoulders of all lawyers, with the imperative to develop the younger generation of lawyers for proper equipping to carry out this task.”

The session ended on an electrifying note with the ecstatic audience and participants cheering the Learned Silk with a loud ovation.
