Crime: FCT To Allocate Special Budget For Fencing Of Schools

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello has directed that appropriate budgetary provisions be made for the fencing of schools across the Territory in the 2022 budget under preparation.

This was one of the resolutions of the monthly FCT Security Committee meeting chaired by the minister.

In a statement by FCT’s Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, the minister promised that continuous attention be accorded to school security.

The minister appealed to parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their wards on social media as naive and young people have become victims of cybercrimes that endanger the lives and livelihoods of children and their parents.

He also commended security agencies and inter -agency cooperation for the remarkable reduction in criminal activities while urging them to continue to work closely to get the desired results across the FCT.

The minister said that the activities of scavengers in the FCT are to be closely monitored and regulated by the Administration, while the revised guidelines controlling their activities will be released by the Abuja Environmental Protection Board.

The FCT Administration advised residents to be security conscious and cooperate with security agencies by providing information.

Owners of uncompleted buildings are tasked to immediately take steps to secure and complete them as such buildings are used as criminal hideouts.
