2027 Presidency: Atiku, Peter Obi Address Speculation After Adamawa Meeting

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party leader Peter Obi have dismissed political speculation surrounding their recent meeting in Yola, Adamawa State. The two prominent politicians were seen sharing breakfast together, prompting widespread assumptions about possible political collaboration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

A video circulating online showed Atiku and Obi seated at a dining table, sparking curiosity about the purpose of their meeting. However, both camps clarified that the gathering was a social reunion rather than a political maneuver.

Speaking to journalists, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, emphasized that the meeting was simply a friendly reunion. “Obi was invited as the keynote speaker for the 20th anniversary of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) and the 16th Founder’s Day, both significant milestones,” Ibe explained. He added that Atiku, who founded AUN, acted as Obi’s host. “Politics cannot separate friends,” he said, urging the public not to read too much into the event.

Obi’s media aide, Ibrahim Umar, also downplayed any political implications, stating, “There was no political agenda. Obi was merely invited to deliver a speech at the event. People will always speculate, but this meeting was not about politics.”

The gathering took place in a convivial atmosphere and was tied to the anniversary celebrations of AUN, an institution established by Atiku. Despite the political climate, both camps reiterated that the breakfast meeting was a demonstration of personal camaraderie rather than political strategizing.

While speculation around the 2027 presidential race continues, both Atiku and Obi remain focused on their respective activities, with their meeting in Adamawa serving as a reminder that friendships can transcend political rivalries.
