19 New Shari’a Court Judges Sworn In In Jigawa State

Jigawa State has formally sworn in 19 new Shari’a Court Judges, locally known as Alkalis, during a ceremony held at the Judicial Complex in Dutse. The appointments were confirmed by Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, Director of Publicity and Protocol for the State Judiciary, who noted that the new judges underwent a rigorous selection and training process to ensure their proficiency in Islamic law and commitment to justice.
At the ceremony, Chief Judge and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq, urged the newly appointed judges to execute their duties with diligence, fairness, and impartiality. “The judiciary plays a crucial role in ensuring justice, and it is your duty to interpret Islamic law with honesty and professionalism. The public expects you to be upright and just in your decisions,” he stated.
Grand Kadi, Hon. Kadi Sani Salihu, also addressed the appointees, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high ethical standards and warning against any corrupt practices. He stressed that their conduct would be closely monitored by the public.
The event, attended by high-ranking judicial officers, judiciary staff, and family members of the new judges, marks a significant milestone in Jigawa State’s efforts to strengthen its Shari’a court system and reinforce the integrity of its judicial processes.
